How Do You See It?



This weekends Certified Speaker Professional Summit was held in Denver Colorado. 

I got so excited because on the second day IT SNOWED! 

Now the others at the conference were less than excited. Snow could mean delays, flight cancellations and missed appointments. 

While both perspectives are valid and based on difference experiences, one caused less stress than others.
Some of those with internal flights started worrying about cancellations straight away and others took the approach, "we see how it is tomorrow" and turned their focus on the sessions at hand.

Every situation has different perspectives. Some highlight your fears, others your dreams and some reflect the situation as you see it.

No one perspective is better than the other but some do make your life easier and less stressful.

What about what is going on in your life and business? Do you see the problem, the alternative or some other perspective?

What's Your Legacy?

What's Your Legacy?

I was struck with the legacy and timeless contribution of the valley and it got me wondering about what mine is (and maybe what yours is Dear-Reader.) It's doesn't have to be big, in fact it usually isn't.

What's It For?



 

Greetings from California!

My gorgeous wife and I were lucky enough to tour the Hearst Mansion at San Simeon on Thursday.

What an amazing place!

It was full of amazing pieces and was a phenomenal construction for its time and location.

One of the key things that drove Hearst to build is was his reason why. He was building it in homage to his mum (or mom as they say here.)

His Mum, Pheobe Apperson Hearst did some fabulous things including:
 
  • Establishing National Parent Teacher Association,
  • Major benefactor to Uni of California and it's first female regent,
  • Co-founder public elementary school for girls in Washington,
  • Founded the Hearst library,
  • Founded Lowie Museum of Anthropology, and
  • Inspired in her son an appreciation of and desire to collect great artworks

Not only that but she bankrolled a lot of Hearst's activities after his Father died. The story goes that she had Hearst come to her where she said that he owed her $10 million. She didn't want the money back but she would like something given to the community in her name. So he built this mansion (he was also sick of staying in a tent) to house his artworks and then gave it to California National Parks in his mothers name.
