I Hate You Computer
I had a brilliant article written about Australia day.
It was open minded. It showed how we needed to put our own bias aside and consider Indigenous peoples concerns around Australia day.
It has some excellent links like the one to the ABC's tv show, You Can't Ask That about the kind of stereo types Indigenous Australian's face. It had a link to a powerful video an Aboriginal dancer did on what Australia Day means to him.
I even tied in the events world discussing Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country and how politicians are the worst at them.
I tried to help put existing biases aside by introducing the Dunning Kruger effect and give some ideas on how to get out of own road when thinking and talking about Australia Day.
The grand finale was the astonishing statement that I had no answers about Australia Day, but it is the questions that are often more important anyway so keep asking questions of the people it impacts the most.
The article was funny, written stylishly and even said at the end how the latest edition of the Get More Success show is out with an interview with someone who made millions, lost even more and is happier than ever.
Then as I was adding a picture for the finishing touches, the computer crapped itself and I lost the lot.
I don't have it within me to resculpt a fabulous piece so today you get the summary.
Short and sweet, Australia Day is good. But if it is not good for everyone, particularly our first peoples, is it really that good?
I'm now off to try and calm down and see what I can salvage for the rest of the day.
Grrrrrrrr!!!!
